Welcome to the Seoultember Film Challenge, where we watch a handful of Korean films and talk, write, podcast, or even shout our opinions from the balcony to random by-passers.

Please use the hashtag #Seoultember, when writing in social media about the challenge, so everyone knows what it’s all about. But what is it about?

The rules

The challenge will start on the 1st of September and finish on the 30th of September. During this time you should watch 3 to 7 films and comment on each of them.

Why 3 to 7? Because these are the most common lucky numbers in Korea, and the time required to watch that number of films should make the challenge achievable for everyone. Of course, you are free to watch more or fewer, but under no circumstances should you watch exactly 4, because that is an unlucky number! Keep away from that!

If you’re wondering whether you can watch films from North Korea or only South Korean films, then the answer is very simple: Passion for films knows no borders. Watch North, South, West or East Korean films. It’s up to you!

If you have never ventured into the world of Korean films, here are some recommendations to get you started:

All properly linked films will be collected on the Letterbox-site, provided that they are properly tagged, so that I’m able to find them.

Finally, we provided for you a few links.

Here you can find the official Letterbox-site and the Twitter-account for the challenge, and the person behind the idea and implementation: Rinku, with IT expertise from Daniel and english translation provided by Carli. (Known from the german Podcast: Serienoase)

The title of the challenge has been selected by a handful of film fans, and the name itself comes from the brain of @enoughtalk_de.

Enjoy the films and 행운을 빕니다!
